Interior glass that divides space without closing it in
Two kinds of space ask for this. Offices, clinics and campus buildings want private rooms that still share the daylight from the outside wall. Condo owners want a den turned into a quiet home office without losing the light from the suite's windows. We connect you with an independent local glass professional who measures, designs and fits interior glass walls and doors. Entrance doors and shop fronts are on the commercial glass page.
- Framed or frameless glass walls
- Swing, sliding and pivot doors
- Frosted or filmed for privacy

Offices and clinics
Office and clinic partitions: framed and frameless
Around the City Centre, office floors, clinics and the college campus share one problem: the windows are on the outside wall and the rooms are in the middle. Glass partitions let the light through.
Framed partitions
Glass held in slim aluminum channels at the floor, ceiling and joints. They take a door easily, can include a solid lower panel, and suit most ceiling types.
Frameless glass walls
Thicker glass joined with clear or minimal connectors. A cleaner look, but the floor and ceiling need to be level and solid enough to fix to.
Adding to an existing office
Partitions can go into a finished space. The pro checks what's above the ceiling, where the sprinklers, lights and air vents sit, and how the floor is finished.
Doors
Glass doors: swing, sliding and pivot
In a small office or a den, the door often decides the layout. Sketch where the desk and chair go, then see which door leaves room for both.
Swing doors
Close tight and take a standard lock, but need clear floor to open into.
Sliding doors
Run along the wall, so they suit tight rooms and condo dens. They seal less well against sound.
Pivot doors
Turn on a point set in from the edge, which suits wide, heavy glass panels.

Condo dens
Condo dens and home offices: glass dividers
Many suites have a den with no door and no window of its own. A glass divider gives it a door and keeps the light. In a condo, check before anyone measures.
Read the declaration and rules
Interior changes may need the board's approval, and some buildings set rules for contractors. The management office can tell you what applies. Our condo glass page explains what owners usually need to ask.
Book the building
Large glass panels come up the service elevator. The pro will need an elevator booking, a loading spot and, in most buildings, an insurance certificate for the management office.
Measure and fit
The pro measures the opening, orders the glass to size and fits the track or frame. Floors and ceilings are seldom perfectly level, and the measure allows for that.
Privacy
Privacy options: frosted, film, switchable
Frosted or etched glass
Lets light through but blurs the view. It can cover the whole panel or a band at eye level.
Decorative or privacy film
Stuck to clear glass and peeled off later if needed. It suits a leased office that may be rearranged. See window film for types.
Switchable glass
Clear until switched to opaque. It needs power at the panel, so plan it before the ceiling and walls are closed.
Safety and rules
Safety glass and building rules
Glass doors and full-height panels that people could walk into are made from safety glass, tempered or laminated. The pro specifies which for each panel and can add markings at eye level so a clear wall isn't mistaken for an opening.
In a leased office, the landlord usually approves any fit-out, and some work may need a permit. In a condo, the board and the management office come first. Ask before you order, not after.
What affects the quote
What moves the price of a partition
- Length and height of the wall, and the number of panels
- Framed or frameless, and the frame finish
- Door type: swing, sliding or pivot, with any lock
- Clear, frosted, filmed or switchable glass
- Access: elevator bookings, stairs, working hours
With a rough floor sketch, the measurements and photos of the floor and ceiling, a pro can usually price it before coming out.

Describe the space and send a rough sketch
Office, clinic or condo den: tell us the room and roughly how long the wall is. Add a sketch and a few photos. A local pro who fits partitions gets them from us and quotes.
