Mirrors cut, edged and hung to your wall

In a suite or a townhouse, a mirror usually has a job: brighten a narrow entry, widen a small bathroom or face a closet. A custom mirror is cut to your wall, edged and fixed to suit what's behind it. We connect you with a local glass professional who cuts and hangs mirrors. When a closet door's frame is sound, they'll quote new mirror glass rather than a new door.

  • Cut to the wall, not a stock size
  • Polished or bevelled edges
  • Closet doors re-mirrored or replaced

Where they go

Where a mirror does the most in a suite or townhouse

Entries and halls

A tall mirror in a narrow condo entry reflects light from the main room. Note switches before you measure.

Bathroom and vanity

Cut to the counter's width or around a cabinet, often alongside new shower glass.

Lighted and LED

Some plug in; others are wired to a box behind the mirror. The pro explains whether they make that connection or an electrician does.

Gyms and full walls

Several panels with tight, polished seams on a bottom channel. The wall must be flat or the reflection ripples.

Mounting

Mounting on drywall, tile and concrete walls

The wall behind a mirror decides how it's held.

  1. Find out what the wall is

Drywall, tile over board, or concrete. A tower suite can have more than one kind, so each wall is checked.

  2. Choose the fixing

Clips, a bottom channel, adhesive or a mix, with anchors that suit the wall. In a condo, ask management whether any walls must not be drilled.

  3. Mark, cut and hang it level

Outlets and switches are marked before cutting, because a mirror can't be trimmed on the wall.

Edge work

Polished or bevelled: what the edge does

A finished edge is safe to handle and resists bathroom moisture better than a raw cut.

Flat polished

A square, smooth edge. The usual choice for frameless mirrors and gym walls.

Pencil polished

A softly rounded edge that's comfortable to touch.

Bevelled

An angled border that catches light, on slightly thicker glass.

Closet doors

Mirrored closet doors: new glass, new track or a new door

When a mirrored sliding door fails, the frame is often still fine.

Repair

A door that jumps its track needs new rollers, a bottom guide or an adjusted track.

Re-mirror

New safety-backed mirror set into the existing frame.

Replace

New doors when frames are bent or parts are gone.
