Window screens · Mississauga
Torn, bent or missing window screens, fixed
A torn screen is a small job, and it still deserves a proper fix. Most window screens are a light aluminum frame with mesh pressed into a groove by a rubber cord called spline. Torn mesh means rescreening the frame. A bent frame or a snapped corner means rebuilding it or making a new one to size. We connect you with an independent local pro who repairs screens, whether it's one casement screen or every screen on the house.
- One screen or a whole house
- Rescreen, rebuild or new frame
- Mesh for pets and small insects

Three fixes
Three fixes: new mesh, a rebuilt frame or a new screen
Rescreen
Old mesh and spline come out; new mesh is stretched tight and rolled in. Suits any frame that is straight and whole.
Rebuild
A bent side or cracked corner piece is replaced and the frame rescreened. Worth it for odd sizes.
New screen
When the frame is twisted or missing, a new one is cut to size from the opening or the old screen.
Mesh choices
Choosing the mesh for your screens
Fibreglass
The common choice. Soft, doesn't dent, easy to see through.
Aluminum
Stiffer and neat-looking, but it creases if bumped.
Pet-resistant
Heavier coated mesh that stands up to claws. The view is a little darker.
Fine mesh
A tighter weave for very small insects, with slightly less airflow.

Casements and awnings
Casement and awning screens sit inside the window
A casement or awning sash cranks outward, so its screen sits on the room side, held by clips or spring pins. Being indoors, it's usually torn by a hand, a pet or the crank handle rather than the weather. Screens lost in a move or renovation can be made new to the frame size. The window itself is covered under casement windows.
What affects the quote
How screen work is priced
Screen work is priced by the piece and the trip:
- How many screens, and how many need a new frame
- Sizes, especially patio or balcony door screens
- Mesh: standard, pet-resistant or fine
- Whether screens are dropped off or removed on site
Count your screens, note the damage on each, and photograph the worst one.
Patio and balcony doors
Patio and balcony door screens
The mesh on a patio or balcony door screen is rescreened the same way, just larger. If the screen drags or falls out of its track, see screen door repair. Doors with no screen at all are covered under retractable screens.
In a condo, ask the management office before ordering a screen for a balcony door or window. The board may set the frame colour, and the building may have its own arrangement.
Whole house or building
Batching screens for a whole house or building
Detached houses, semis and townhouses still house most Mississauga households, and their screens tend to wear out together. Count them all. A pro can rescreen a batch in one trip. Landlords and condo managers can send a list by suite through our property managers page; the doors and screens page lists related jobs.
